Doomy Poem: Colorblind

[Doomy]

Who am I?
What am I?

I don't know
I see myself in the mirror
I see white

My friends look at me
Talk to me
Think of me
They see yellow

My nose, they say
So, so Asian

I squint and look in the mirror
White
I think

Your eyes, they say
Look at your eyes! Turned upward!

But that's just the way they look
They're huge
And
White

My eyebrows are unfamiliar
They supposedly give me away

And I think,
What the hell?

My jaw
They say
It gives you away

I have studied my face in the mirror a thousand times
But still am somehow unable to see it
For what it is

Look at your mom, they say
True
They have a point
She is undoubtedly Asian

But my dad
I tell them
Look at my dad!
White

Look at my friends!
White

But, when my family is yellow
My mother is yellow
My grandmother is yellow
My aunts, uncles cousins, all yellow

I am Japanese.

But I am only half.

I am Japanese

But colorblind
