So, I was on facebook
I always feel the urge to capitalize that... the other day. (My real one, where I use my real name) And, I posted as my status that I would pay someone, anyone, ten dollars if they could name the show that this quote came from.
"For me, this is like Super Man's Dome Of Pleasure."
No one could. One guy decided to Google it. He, obviously, did not receive the ten dollars.
So, I was contemplating the fail of our generation when I decided to come here. Whenever I am feeling depressed about how utterly fail-ish my generation is, I come here or to my alternate facebook account to remind myself that not every adolescent these days are(is?) at the comprehension level of a potato. Now, because you guys make me feel better about things in the brain department, maybe some of you have seen the greatest show on earth. And no, I'm not talking about a circus. I'm talking about freaking Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
It's written by Aaron Sorkin, who automatically makes it amazing. Maybe you've seen some of his other masterpieces including; The West Wing, Sports Night, The American President. The West Wing went for 7 (8?) seasons. It was a legend. A not very well-known legend, apparently.
Between the witty dialogue, the fast pace, and the oh-so-quotable lines, Studio 60 is a recipe for success. Then why did it only go one season? I don't know. It's not overtly intellectual... I think the average human being, even now-a-days, could understand it... I just don't get it. How is it that none of my real (real, as in I know them in person) friends have seen THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH?
Well, if you would like to immerse yourself in 60 minutes of Hollywood satire every night, be my guest. For only $11, you can be the proud owner of the first (and only, for reasons beyond my understanding) season of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip;
