They are a piece of coding invented by this extremist group in Ukraine that gets into your NING profile to make more of itself, retitles all of your folders "Willy Wonka" and sends obscene messages to all of your Facebook friends. You get it by clicking on an image that looks like a colorful egg.
Or, so as long as you believe that, you won't go looking and re-introduce the plague back onto the site.
