Protect the flock! From JP and Hachette!

AKA come write 50 000 words in a month. It's fun, I promise. (Moar info here.)

So, any other NaNoers here? (I'm Artaxiad Prescott.)

If so, got a plan yet? What's your novel about?

Only about 300 words shy of 20k. I'm going to need a hell of a plot extension, because I'm about to run past the furthest area that I'd actually planned for.
21.5k
Making creeping progress on my novel. Perhaps I'll make it to 10k tomorrow *gag*
Think you'll be able to pull at least 2k/day here on out, or are you one of those barf-it-all-out-last-minute types?
I will damn well try.

...most likely I'll spend the entire week of Thanksgiving huddled over my laptop, weeping silently into the keys. :\
I have... less than a thousand words, and I'm going away for the last week of November. I can totally do this :D
Well, you know what they say... When in doubt, kill someone. And when your career is really going downhill, bring them back to life. Yeah, JP, that was pointed at you.
There is no greater glee than really making a reader sympathetic towards a character, or hell, a whole group of them... and then most of them die or are horribly maimed.

War is hell.
Honestly, I'd never heard that before, but it seems like good advice, no?
My post is quite literally what I'm doing personally. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone...

But character death is a great way to wring wordcount from a story.
You bet. Take Looking For Alaska, for example. Well, no, because that book would have no point if she hadn't died... But the point is that John Green takes several chapters just describing the fucking pain. I GET IT, MAN, DEATH SUCKS.
I beg to differ. That's during the reveal towards the end where you show the audience that everything they've been reading for the last four hundred pages is, in fact, the exact opposite of what they initially thought it to be. Just killing people doesn't necessarily change anything.
