Welcome to the Secret Confessions thread. Beyond the pure anonymity of the internet, there lies a certain level of understanding behind all the accounts here on FF. The SC account carries burden of allowing the user to give a candid, private confession with (hopefully) understanding feedback. The SC thread is for other posters to give kind and/or helpful advice, words of empathy, or a secret of their own (under the SC name or not).
This account is a group account, and EVERYONE needs to treat it respectfully. By posting under the Secret Confessor, you are pledging to refrain from hate mail, "finger-pointing", insulting and being a jerkface. By posting in the SC thread, you are pledging to keep the comments respectful. This has not yet been a problem, but it's nice to have written down "just in case".
If you would like to use the SC account for ANY reason beside posting in this thread, please PM me- even if it's under the SC name (this is not to exert authority, but to maintain order over a very accessible account).
Common reasons for depression (these might not occur to you, but they actually do affect your mood)
--Get enough sleep. If that means going to bed early, do it.
--Make sure you've had something to eat. You'd be surprized how much depression goes away on a full stomach (FULL, DO NOT MINDLESSLY STUFF YOURSELF)
--Talk to someone. Even if it's us. Bottled emotions lead to depression.
Once these three things are satisfied, if you're still depressed, then it's time to find alternate solutions.
Well I kind of fail at the first two. I eat and sleep when somebody makes me, or when my body is threatening to collapse from lack of rest or nutrition. *makes mental note*
*smiles* I love how you say "even if it's us," imo you guys are better to talk to for most things.
*more failing at the first two* *also often stuffs up the third*
Going to trained professionals is scary, though. And there's a big gap between realising that perhaps you might need help and actually being able to go and get it... In the meantime we'll be here (and at any point thereafter as well).
I did that. It.... It did something for me, for a short while, but in the end the feelings that came alone with it, just made me feel even worse. Don't do it. It's really dangerous, and in the long run, it'll make everything harder for you. *hugs* Good luck.
*adds onto Nate's second post*
Even if it's not something you /love/, just keep yourself busy.
Bake a cake.
Clean out your room.
Get on the Internet.
Talk to us. We really do love you.
*isn't sure if she should say this*: I've...always equated self-infliction with drugging. You may feel better right afterwords, but the need to keep hurting yourself won't...be good for you.
Not so secret confession: You know that confusing conversation between all the Secret Confessors recently, that got me thinking (bad thing), and I kind of admired those people for getting that out there. (Especially #3). Anyway, something I've neglected to admit to others/myself, is that I am and so fear for it, falling for people (2 v.v *feels like a bitch for that) I know online (or at least as close as I think is possible for me to 'fall' for someone) >.<'
Don't bother replying to this, I'm not answering anything, and its not really asking for advice. I just kind of wanted to get it out there.
