Yesterday I found myself waiting for a connection at 30th St. Station. Like all good travel locations, it had a small bookstore.

I looked for Patterson's YA books under the Teen section.

They weren't there; they were in the "children" section instead, right next to the I-can-read kiddie books.

Even the booksellers know JP can't write...

XDD  A lot of YA books have been heading there.  Series that started as teen and are now in childrens with just a different cover from a new publication. . . . it's amusing, in a sense.
Aren't the HP books in the children's section, too?
Only the first one. 2-4 (the only other ones there) were under Teen.

Ooh, really? At all the bookstores I've bothered to look at, they're all in the children's section.

That's interesting.

It's one thing to accidentally have garbage on your lawn.

It's another to THROW it onto our lawn and look around to check if anyone is looking.

It's ON asshole, it's ON. And fyi, I can get up/stay up later than you ever will. And I'm already plotting your demise. Should have fucking filmed it to complain to the office.

Ah, shit. This'll kill me.

Also, I'm pretty damn near killing the screaming child who just fell off her bicycle after having ridden around noisily on training wheels, giggling and ringing her fucking bell every couple of seconds.

I guess I'll just shut the window. That better fucking muffle it.

Contra is cranky.

Although I pretty much just wrote 300 words on why pledges are stupid, I didn't mean them in this context.

So

I hereby pledge to do all of my homework as soon as I receive it, in the order that makes the most practical sense, and never to allow myself to wait until late the night before. I also pledge to learn how to annotate, as in actually learn how to do it right, and then start to do it right so that it improves my comprehension of literary texts and so that I don't want to kill myself when trying to do it for a class.

Additionally, I pledge to attempt to go to sleep no later than 10:30 on school nights, and to wake up no later than 6:15.

Finally, I pledge to enjoy myself in what is supposedly the most stressful year of high school, and to always remember that I can fucking survive anything that school throws at me.

Goodnight.

This summer for me, in brief:

1. Read Ghost Story.

2. Got zero done on my novel.

3. Pretty much finished my eagle scout project.

4. Made no attempt to contact my friends.

5. Realized what an asshole I am (Not just on the internet, mind you...)

6. Went on vacation, became uber depressed.

7. Realized that yes, the three overnight weeks of volunteer staff work at a boyscout camp DO count as community service hours for my school, and I just pretty much got about 500 hours (if I did the math right, more like...X+1 times X+4, X^2+5X+4, X=20, thus 400+100+4=504 hours) of Community Service, and basically just set a record.

8. Finished my college essays, finished annotating The Help, and finished all other summer school related activities.

9. Grandfather died.

1. A novel or a short story? I only know the Japanese movie Kui Tan (Ghost Story).

2. It happens. Have you found a new muse or identified the obstacle.

3. Don't stop now.

4. It happens. Did they attempt to contact you? If they did not, then worry yourself not?

5. We all grow up one day. Later we figure out that the "asshole" in us is whatever we're doing to try to please people who don't see value in what we are when we're just being ourselves. Those who know who we truly are don't think we're being assholes.

6. Hence, vacations can suck worse than the daily grind.

7. Exploit those numbers.

8. That and everything else is probably the reason for #2.

9. Did he do anything else of significance?

Was Ghost Story good?

Went to bed last night thinking I'd spend most of today editing.

Woke up and built a 1:1 scale model of a Saturn 1B in Minecraft instead.
