I disagree. . . . .
Obviously with basketball.
1. Because I'm horridly biased.
2. Our basketball players aren't preppy. (Really, they aren't with the exception of 2 girls)
Not panic-ing, but panic attacks. Tears too. they were terrified of their parents finding out o_o .
STAR tests... they're state tests, same with the CAT6 (in California). Dunno what it stands for. But our schools are always "Teaching to the test." Our entire curriculum is based off of it -_-
We have pretty much the same system, with mostly preps. You'll see quite a few emo people around, and a small number of nerds. I'm not in any of these groups. I'm friends with... 2 anime nerds, a couple of band geeks, a select few preppy-ish people, and a few emos. I'm included in just about every group except preps because I draw manga, I was in Marching Band last year, I always wear black and don't talk a lot, and have straight A's.
My school is about... 20% Emo, 30% Prep, and 50% Nerd.
No lie. I go to one of the best public schools in the country (I think it was rated number... 12? Last year). So it's incredebly hard-core. And because the district I live in is pretty wealthy (because the schools raise the price of housing tremendously) so the idea is, if you're Asian, you're nerd. And rich kids tend to fantasize about being goth/emo.
Oh, I completely forgot about the ghetto people! Okay, take everything I listed, divide them in half, and give half the school to the ghetto people. Whether they're wanna-be ghetto (I mean, most of them are...) or real, they make up about half the school.
Lamp- It's seriously intense. Nearly half the school (actually, probably more) is aiming for Ive League, or a UC. The idea of community collage is fucking scary to these people. There are so many "Asian" jokes. I'm lucky in that I can tell them without being racist, but people don't have to know that :D
