The craziest thing just happened. The fire departement, which is a few houses down from me, well, it's siren started going off. I didn't really think anything of it until I looked out my window (I can see the back parking lot of the fire house from my living room window) and there were several ambulances out back. Then my dad noticed that there was a helicopter circling, so we went outside and it landed in the corn field right next to ours! I ran out back and watched the helicopter from some brush inbetween the corn fields. Eventually the doors to one of the ambulances opened and they moved a guy on a stretcher from the ambulance to the helicopter. I watched it take off, and just had to come on here and spaz. Sorry if this is incredibly stupid. I'm just completely amazed. >.>
A medevac? We had one of those land on our school baseball field once. We were in the middle of history and I stated to the class "Speaking of current events, if you will look out the window in the direction of the field..."
Yeah. It was a pretty cool assembly, really. Though the dispatch calls were in plain English and complete sentences, which was really amusing considering I've grown up listening to the actual radio... XD
*nods* If it was a medevac, it was probably pretty bad.... but, that doesn't mean he/she won't be okay. Just, they're probably badly injured.
You've listened to the actual calls? That's so cool! I couldn't hear anything over the helicopter.
I think so. They took an awfully long time to get the person from the ambulance to the helicopter. My mom said they must be trying to stabilize the person before they can transport them to the hospital.
Er, not like.... uh, my parents work for the sheriff's department. So it wasn't like, I got to listen in on a call for a specific reason, it's just the background noise of my entire life.....
*nods* I hope they're alright, but.... you never know, really.
