As a “pure research" scientist, his job was simply to “increase knowledge”, and he subsequently devoted all of his interest to his work.

What about in the above sentence?
In this instance no... unless you are paraphrasing something of similar wording, in which case yes.
I'm still alive! :D

I went camping this weekend. Like, in a tent. Okay, so I had an air mattress as well as a sleeping bag. Still. There were bears and it rained, and it was so awesome. I had no internet for a week either, which I'm fine with if I'm in the woods and Cody's there. We ended up having seven people sharing our huge-ass new tent. Three rooms, with my sister and I in one, Mom and stepdad in the middle, and Will, Cody, and Scott in the last one. Okay, Scott is apparently still a favorite friend of my family, and as long as Cody and the rest are there it doesn't get awkward. The weirdest thing about him now is how much time he spends with my twelve-year-old sister. >.> Anyway, it was a fun weekend. Now I can't wait for next weekend for the Disturbed concert.
I've just discovered that MLA formatting makes me really happy.

...Yeah, I dunno why. But it does.
I kinda love it a lot. xD
Yes. I'm not the only one. XD
I just got back from bandcamp about ten minutes ago.

I have school tomorrow morning.

Not okay.
sleeeeeeeeep. now!

Fang is clearly the traitor to the flock. Patterson is good enough at thrillers to know that he has to do this.

....That is all.
Personally, I'll be happy if Jeb just decides he can't take this anymore and hands in his resignation.

By way of eight bullets.
I need to rewatch the South Park movie.
