-Using Pokemon terms again-

HM are moves like Fly, Cut, Surf, Dive, etc that you have to have in order to progress through the game. They can't be unlearned and most of them suck. Which is why I always get an HM slave, Zigzagoon was an ideal slave in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire because he could also pick up random items.

Other than that he's a useless Pokemon.

Edit: Weeeell... That is a tad bit of problem. And maybe a little creepy. Hypothetically speaking, you could tell them that your penpal from Canada wrote and sent a special Mudkip package.
