Either that's some crazy class, or your teachers are high. Between Tolstoy and Dostoevsky alone would probably fill a good chunk of my summer... heck, in all the English classes I've had, that sounds more like three semesters of reading to me.

Dostoevsky is depressing, but interesting.
Homer is slow.
Paton didn't impress me much.
My personal judgment on the amount of reading: given no distractions and sufficient amounts of coffee and a little food, I could have it done in a few weeks... after which I'd be dead to the world for a while.
