ARG --- Alternate Reality Game

A project to recreate Itex-era documents showing the rise of Itex as a company, and the creation of the Maximum Ride characters. Initial discussion on "What are you doing" thread starts HERE.

The story will chronicle Elena Mueller (known by her internet alias "Valentine") after her return from a trip to Germany, and the discovery of the various Itexicon files.

Re: Ending.
We need to make this gene Elena is carrying important. I have recorded an idea; this will be one of the last recordings on the ARG, as it takes place only a few hours before Itex is taken down.

The concept is, that the gene is a sort of Omega-2, one that takes the perfect design of Omega, and incorporates the best aspects from all the other experiments. Wings, Eraser powers, etc. Sad thing is, Itex gets toppled before he can present it to Janssen.

So he'll have sent her off to find Gunther-Hagen, who he hopes will use it to build that great big beautiful tomorrow that he spent all that time talking about in FANG. In brief, this means that all these self-repair powers and Dylan's future vision and the like were probably revese-engineered from ter Borcht's project. GH will never admit this though, as he wants the prestige, allowing it all to slip nicely into the canon.

I do feel that this makes a perfect ending to the ARG -- it brings everything full circle, and leaves us on a note of... failing hope and bitterness.

Jeb is read in a calm, fatherly like tone.
Max is read confused and impatiently.

Jeb: June Fifth, 1998. Vision Test number 3-1-4, Subject, Max Ride…so that’s female, age 9.
(PAUSE)
Jeb: OK Max, here’s what we’re going to do. At the end of the hall, a bunch of of numbers are going to show up on that screen. Do you see it?
Max: It’s really far away.
Jeb: I’m going to put up a letter. Can you see it?
Max: Yeah, it’s a big “E”
Jeb: Good, how about this one?
(PAUSE)
Max: That dot?
Jeb: That’s a letter. I need you to try, Max.
(Pause)
Max: “J”?
Jeb: Great job… how about now.
Max: There’s nothing on the screen.
Jeb: Yes there is. It’s right in the middle.
(PAUSE)
Jeb: Max?
Max: If I tell you, can I have a cookie?
Jeb: (hesitant) well… (with growning resolve) yes, if you do, you can have a cookie.
Max: …”B”
Jeb: (hushed) Subject visual range perfect at simulated ten miles.

There are roughly four weeks between Jan 14 and Feb 14. 28 days. Let's try to plan this out accordingly...

Also, it will seem more realistic if: we post documents in clumps -- here are some scanned photos, then a few days later some letters; Elena posts in other places than strictly the ARG thread; recordings are always posted solo, with nothing else that day (since she would only put in the effort, likely, to record and upload one recording / day *, but might be willing to scan multiple documents).

(That, and we can drum up more interest by dropping subtle hints, whether that Elena is getting ill from her impromptu gene therapy, or that next post there's something REALLY interesting coming up... but oops, she can't post right now!)

* This goes especially if we have her note a slow connection as a problem, or that the recordings are on tape rather than CD. Ripping a recording from a tape recorder is an aggravating, lossy process.
