Our teacher refuses to explain to us which verbs are irregular in preterite and which aren't...and I need to know.

I probably spelled it wrong.

It's the past tense, I think? And she said it was an action that has been finished...

I learned what it was because I'm teaching myself Na'Vi, but it's hard to explain...

Nah, you spelled it right. (Although it's possible to omit the last "e".)

Yeah, it's basically the simple past tense. "Yesterday, I went running" is preterite.
