Protect the flock! From JP and Hachette!

I can't believe we don't have this thread, I went through all the threads looking for it.  Brought back such memories, too.  :D  Tell me if I, however, missed it.

So, pretty self explainatory.  What are you currently reading?  'Tis appreciated if you'd also say whether or not you'd recommend/not recommend the book, too, so everyone can expand their reading list.  :D

I'm curretly reading:

 - Symphony of Ages Seires -- Elizabeth Haydon.  They're great.  I'm adoring them.

 - The Messenger -- Markus Zusak.  'Tis lovely.  Very down-to-Earth, great writing style, fast moving without too much action.

 - The Gates -- John Connolly.  Only a few pages into it.  'Tis beyond amazing, though.  I love this author.

No, we're talking serious fail; spontaneously not being able to write with your typical writing hand, but suddenly properly being able to do it with the hand they don't use for writing, through genetics.

I'm sorry, what?

I can accept shooting demon bees from your hand because the rest of the setting is also absurd, but LOL SWITCHED DOMINANCE BECAUSE GENES is just dumb. You can be totally realistic or you can be playfully unrealistic, but you can't be in the middle.

It gets worse.

He didn't study Psychology, but he did look up genetics and neuroscience. That's accurate, the rest isn't.

Reading list for one of my classes this semester:

Michael Chabon, Gentlemen of the Road
Percival Everett, Erasure
Barb Johnson, More of This World or Maybe Another
Jonathan Lethem, Gun, with Occasional Music
Paula McLain, The Paris Wife
Chuck Palahniuk, Lullaby

If you've read any of these, could you tell me if they were any good? This is supposed to be for a popular fiction class I have this semester.

Book pricing is part of what we'll discuss! Finally, I get to put those JP rants to good use! >:D

I'm currently staring down The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara.
The book about the Battle of Gettysburg? Read it, I found it to be a good read.

When You Are Engulfed In Flames - David Sedaris

I'm becoming more and more accustomed to this style of writing, and I like it a lot.

"In Country" by Mason.

Like Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck, but with less metaphors, more language, and a complete feeling of detachment from the characters.

The Fellowship of the Ring

I feel like my reading of these books is long overdue, and I want to have them all read before The Hobbit comes out this year.

Also The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, though it's been slightly postponed due to ^that.

:D SHERLOCK HOLMES!

I love the Holmes novels. So great. <3

I've read A Study in Scarlet, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and part of the Adventures.

They're fantastic (especially Hound), and the language is so lovely and fun to read.

I've read the both those novels and most of the short stories. I adored A Scandal in Bohemia. The Final Problem was also wonderful.
