[Edited Because I Fracking Can]

Welcome to the Secret Confessions thread. Beyond the pure anonymity of the internet, there lies a certain level of understanding behind all the accounts here on FF. The SC account carries burden of allowing the user to give a candid, private confession with (hopefully) understanding feedback. The SC thread is for other posters to give kind and/or helpful advice, words of empathy, or a secret of their own (under the SC name or not).

This account is a group account, and EVERYONE needs to treat it respectfully. By posting under the Secret Confessor, you are pledging to refrain from hate mail, "finger-pointing", insulting and being a jerkface. By posting in the SC thread, you are pledging to keep the comments respectful. This has not yet been a problem, but it's nice to have written down "just in case".

If you would like to use the SC account for ANY reason beside posting in this thread, please PM me- even if it's under the SC name (this is not to exert authority, but to maintain order over a very accessible account).

Thank you!

She decreases her subjective self-worth if she attacks it. We imbue her with a certain amount of self-worth, but another amount must come from her and her alone.

As I pointed out, plastic surgery would be pointless from our standpoint; we feel that she doesn't need it. But if she thinks it would make her feel better to have it done, then it's an available option. Again "subjective standpoint"=how a person perceives the world through their own emotions. Like moral judgment. Very different from "objective standpoint"=a detached, logical view of the world, without the lens of personal emotions. Like math.
And it's our job, as her friends, to build up her self-worth as best we can. Which means telling her the truth outright -- that she's NOT worthless. Not giving her any leeway to think otherwise.

It was utterly insensitive. Assuming she hasn't gotten into a horrible accident that's left her disfigured to the point where she doesn't look quote-unquote normal, she doesn't need plastic surgery. And when I say accident, I'm talking reconstructive surgery, not "my boobs aren't big enough" surgery.
@EndOf: Please stop posting to what I say. You're not helping me at all.
@Megan: I'm not beautiful.
I actually haven't seen a picture of you. If you'd show us one, I'd bet anything I'll be right.

Your assessments of yourself have never been accurate, dear, I've no reason to believe you're right about your own beauty.
If you saw a picture of me, you'd agree that I'm ugly.

Which ones haven't been accurate?
Prove it.

That you're worthless, your "nobody cares about me" trip, that you're boring, that you irritate people, and I believe you called yourself stupid or something of the sort at one point, too.
I don't want to post one on here....
Facebook? Email? I just want the chance to tell you you're wrong. It'd, for obvious reasons, be unbelievable if I said you're pretty without seeing you.
I posted one on here...On my profile
Hon... how the hell could you say you're ugly? o.o

You're gorgeous. Not only that, you're one of those people who can make retainers/braces + glasses look cute.
Also, I want your hair.
@ Music: ARE YOU SHITTING ME!!!???
You look better than the majority of the people on my campus. Whomever's been telling you that you look otherwise deserves to get their face shoved into a blender.
@Megan: I hate my retainers. I only have a few more months of the teeth nonsense then I'm free. I like my glasses.
You can have my hair. I hate it.
