Four facts occur to me regarding Maximum Ride Book Three.
1. Tortoise woman, who is about 200 years old (Take that, Edward Cullen!) seems to indicate that Itex either had time travel or steampunk...DNA splicing in the past. Either way...awesome.
2. Itex is basically a branch of Nazi's without the swastikas. And I'm not making a comparison. This is actually implied to an extent.
3. Celestre is the root of all evil, and playing one big Xanatos Roulette with the plot.
1) She's lying. At 200 years old that would put her birth at 1810. Organelles, to say nothing of the functions of a cell's nucleus, weren't discovered until 1884 by Karl August Möbius, by which point she would have been 64 years old.
2) You're right about this, and it is heavily implied. Everything from Race Purification, to genocide, to goose-stepping is mentioned by Max in book 3. The fact that their head scientist is German probably doesn't help either. Most evil biomedical scientists are, after all, modeled after the human experimentation projects done by Dr. Josef Mengele.
