Oy, science fail.

Was watching Terra Nova and they were talking about looking for DNA in a drop of blood.

However, I suppose this means that someone forgot that red corpuscles in humans eject their nuclei shortly after creation, so  this means that they're working entirely off of the 2 million white corpuscles that would have been in the single drop, which is now disolved throughout at least half a liter's worth of...paint solution. Under the circumstances, they are SOL, but I fully expect them to find an answer anyway and explain it away by their medical ubserscanners.

"I'm a doctor, not a chemist"

This from the head medical officer.

"It's the chemical equivilant of looking for a needle in a haystack"

This from the head science officer, right before he says.

"And one of the many talents of the mixing ingredient is destroying red blood cells"

Apple spice chai tea FTW. ^-^

A few questions to the uni students here or currently applying for uni students here.

For scholarship money, does it automatically go to the school? Or can you use it for other things (we have one award here that I heard people use to buy cameras...)? And when does it arrive? The summer before? Or another time, like during the school year? Is it a cheque? Or does it depend solely on the scholarship itself? If you were to go to uni far away (other side of the country) is the scholarship money allowed for transportation there?

I hear you can use Scholarship money to buy laptops and stuff if you need to, and if it's given to you by the school.

No word on their stance on hookers, or cocaine.

Dammit, how did you know I wanted crack?

I've heard some really wack shit about what people have bought with their scholarship money... So I'm hoping i can just hoard it... forever. And get a new laptop.

Not by the time you see the bill for college you sure as hell won't.

"Jesus Christ! How the --? Well, I guess I don't really need food..."

Luckily, our tuition rates are slightly less than yours. Our highest is (averaged mind you) at about 16 000 and that's medicine/dentistry, something I won't be interested in. I've done the UBC calculator as well and even if I lived on campus, it would be around 10K (per year). Where as your tuition rates are not quite so pretty... Granted, I'm hoping to accumulate (because there's so many ridiculous scholarships) at least enough to cover one year.

@Nathan: I don't need the food. I could lose a few pounds I suppose....

Does that count:
1) Meal Services?
2) Printing?

3) Facilities costs?

4) Textbooks?

I mean, the college is already handing me a lot of money in academic scholarships, but it still costs a lot for the other stuff.

Yeah. I don't recall exactly how much it calculates for that, but I believe UBC included meals if you bought something or other. It also said that it was just a rough estimate, obviously all of that differs from person to person and the amount of courses you take.
