See my edit for my initial reaction ^.^. I really liked it. I would have loved for it to be longer, but in all, I'm glad you skipped the gory details and took a more stylized approach to the whole thing. and the dream sequence thing at the beginning? Really good, really powerful.

:D :D There... I think the first draft I did for the chapter had gory details, but I was kinda squickin myself out, so I skipped all that in favor of setting up for fluff.

OK. I'm a whore, soooooo pop quiz time about the dream sequence: did you spot any possible symbolism?

I thought that was really effective to skip that and take a deeper approach...

*eyes Nathan* I notice the Water, which is like starting anew and rebirth and all that, and the overall sense of urgency (which is more tone), and I'm guessing the coins have significance that I didn't get...

The coins... The fare for the ferry, two silver coins, refers back to old funeral traditions where the dead would be buried with two silver coins over their eyes. This money was to pay Charon to take your dead self on his ferry to Hades.

Ah, that would explain why I didn't pick up on it. I don't know my mythology real well...hmmmm... but it's good, it makes sense and it's effective in making you think. Yeah. That was definitely a good chapter indeed!
